Melange la musique

I am wondering what effect does a foreign language have in our Desi songs. Where did this custom start from is my question. Did it originate from somewhere in the west or was it the popularity of the language in our nation that has made many people murmur the lyrics sans a good pronunciation.

Take for example, when I first listened to what Enrique Iglesias had composed I thought he was trying to use some profane words (of course no singer would do that) in his songs. I am sure that I did not sing one word of it correct as I had my own version of singing it. Well, I always used to do that!! Suddenly I wanted to check out what most of the Spanish lines meant en anglais.

I checked out the lyrics for Bailamos and it says something like this:

Te quiero amor mio
So the version that I used to sing was this " te kiaaro mama mio" :D ouch!! where does the word mama come from?? The above mentioned statement in spanish means " I love you, my love"

"Como te quiero
Yes!! for once I pronounced it just the way it is sung and it means "Because I love you"

De Noite - da mi vida
Quedate conmigo

This means something like this.. the night when he dances with her, it is going to a night of his life. and he pichaikaytufies to the girl... pleeeeease stay with me :P

Suthi suthi inna solla varaan na " yele naan unne romba love pannarein.. dayavu senju alwa kuduthudathey"

Rhythm Divine is yet another song that I just love. Now time to decipher what has been conveyed in that song

It says "Escucha el ritmo de tu corazon" in the beginning of the song. Using the translator I got to know it means " Listen to the rhythm of your heart" mmm.. good enough :)

Then comes our tala ARR. He has a passion towards adding french words in tamil/hindi songs I suppose.

Par example... If you had noticed the "Adhisiyam"/"Ajooba" song from Jeans there is one part of the humming that says "Je vous aime... je vous aime". Ask me what I was singing it like since I heard the song?? shaaa boo zaain!!! Anyway close to the original lyrics? Shux I am so bad!!

Basically it means "I love you" in french. One other song that comes to mind is the "Taxi Taxi" from Sakkarakatti. I try to comprehend what the french text in the middle means. After a lot of lyrics search it says "Il faut que je me dépêche parce qu’on m’attend à Chennai" and when I try to translate it, the translator says " I've got to hurry because we expect to Chennai" eew!! what is this supposed to mean? If anybody could help me with this, I'd be really grateful :) yet another line from the same song "Il faut que j'aille prendre le Taxi, prendre le Taxi à Paris" and is plainly translated as "Let me take a taxi, take a taxi in Paris" Inda logic kandippa purilayeee paaaaaa :'( Probably the lyrics extracted is incorrect.

One of the best mix of Hindi-french text is the Delhi 6 title song. Here it goes and the meaning is approximately correct.

Imagine l'eclat d'un paysage qui te submerge
Pas a pas, tu penetres dans cette atmosphere
Tel une sphere qui t' aspires ,toi tu regardes qui t inspires

Imagine a piece of landscape and when you penetrate into its atmospehere, you see that it inspires you. I am not very sure about it... But this is what the translator tried to convey :)

Another piece of the same song is simply superb when you listen to it. I am not able to get the exact words and hence I don't wish to confuse people.

Whatever be it... J'adore cette musique et longue. C'est formidable!! Voila!!
