saarangu n koraangu !! :D

High were the expectations for Saarang was very popular among the "youth" of Chennai. So myself and my friend landed up there for IIT campus was nearly our second home. Amidst the woods was built the open air theater or as people call it OAT. All of us lined up for the VIP show or rather named as "POPULAR NITE" and entered the arena. Some how as we entered the gallery I found that the supposedly little "shy" type of south indians got into party mood.

So the basic purpose of this article is not to describe how the nite was, but to compare two different extremes of professionalism and rowdism. I know you guys out there gonna kick me hard on face for doing such injustice to Saarang by comparing it to any other local show. But please tolerate :) Patience would be appreciated.

Scene 1 @ SJCE: Well yeah! This was the only thing that was in parallel with Saarang. Probably every time I've attended my college function this has been the only good part of it.

Scene 1 @ IIT: As I mentioned before this was pretty much similar to SJCE but for the fact that we were exactly able to hear what the singers were trying to sing.

Scene 2 @ SJCE: Our every year's special cheap... sorry chief guest enters the auditorium and starts off with his lecture. I very well remember him speaking about the IT corridor on our college day... sigh!! God knows the purpose of his speech that day.

Scene 2 @ IIT: The master blaster is not seen on stage and people are jumping off their seats to have a glimpse of him. In the side stage we see some really pretty women whom guys would defly call as "ssssmoking HOT" .

Scene 3 @ SJCE: After the hilarious lecture speaking totally out of context the chief guest just moves out of the auditorium with black cats.. oops sorry black elephants on his side. I could swear on myself that even the president of the United States wouldn't be getting such protection. Who on earth is gonna sacrifice his/her life for assasinating some ABC!!

Scene 3 @ IIT: NO such ridiculous speech and the host just starts off the show without any delay further.

Scene 4 @ SJCE: When we were at college it used to be department wise competition kinda performance and the orchestra had a different time slot. One of the sole reasons I don't feel like appreciating the participipants in my college is that most often the dialogues/concept/melody of the voice were not conveyed. Yes! They were definitely not less talented for they had won a title on one of the famous television show. BUT the acoustics I swear is just hopeless. Even the world's most melodious song would sound jaaring at the end of the day.

Scene 4 @ IIT: Now since it is held in the OAT you could definitely expect some decent sound system. Yeah!! The music is understandable and the emotions are conveyed. :)

Scene 5 @ SJCE: oops... there is something I just forgot to mention. Guys are not supposed to wear round neck or printed t shirts. Girls on the other hand can wear round neck, triangle neck, square neck... whatever kinda shirt!! What the heck!! Guys I feel so sorry for you. Another sick rule is that "NO MOBILE PHONES ALLOWED". You silly gits don't you know students tend to break the rules only when rules are made.. If that is the case why do you need that rule??

Scene 5 @ IIT: NO dress code... Nobody cares a damn on how you look cos 1. the show is held when it gets dark 2. all of them wanna have fun in their own way... so they don't care about you even if you are your college's hot shot. Obviously mobiles phones are not what they are bothered about. So you wave your phone, record a video/audio.. nobody even cares.

Scene 6 @ SJCE: At the end of the day you get back home with a head ache cos of excessive suffocation inside the auditorium.

Scene 6 @ IIT: You come back home humming your favourite music/dancing/ and laughing out for silly jokes with friends. :D

My mom always tells me "DO NOT SPEAK ILL OF THE PLACE WHERE YOU STUDIED" and hence I'm left with no other option than to feel a little proud about my college as when compared to even more horrible colleges in the city.
