Well, probably one of the best destinations for holidays. Wait now... where is this place located? Supposedly a part of Madras in the earlier days... n yes definitely a part of the Chennai era.
Being the oldest grand daughter of the Nangil family I had a few responsibilities on my shoulder... Ask me wat?? Spoil the kids :P
Unfortunately known as the 'cry baby' of the family, I had to break that title and hence was born the new buggy who was/is/will be a happy gal...
We all used to gather there during our summer vacations. Sleeping on a single cot with granny a.k.a muyal was so much fun. Squeeze in tight and listen to million number of stories that she used to tell us. Probably now if I try lying down on that bed all that I can tell u is that I won't fit. :D (yeah I am exaggerating it. Still I guess two of us would fit in if not three)
Next day we woke up to see the bright and sunny day sending off our 'Viji mami' to office. Yes again it was time for some fun. I really can't forget few incidents at Nangils. One thing being myself and one of my cousin (we call him ani anna officially named as Bhargav Prasad) wanted to skate. ( You know trying to show off who is better at skating skills) So what we do is empty a full tin of Ponds talcum powder and keep playing... zooooooooooin zooooooooooin... suddenly... v hear the sound of somebody opening the gate... haiyayooo.. viji mami is back home. So what v brainy gits do is... v just wipe all the powder and push it to the sides... (as if she wudn find it with the smell) . Yes!! you guessed it right... We both share the poojai from her.. where he gets 90% and I get 10% :P
*************************************************************************************Incident number 2: U know I aint a bossy sis... So my sis (vaichu a.k.a punch bag) gets to be a teacher in our "teacher-teacher" game. In case you don't know what it is, then it's the funniest and the silliest game on earth. We both use hand bags, a pen inside, a note book (an imaginary student's notebook whom we are supposed to correct) and chalk pieces to teach :P
We discuss a lotta things as though we are "real" teachers.

#3 You know we can't be teachers always. So we decide that we are gonna be doctors next. One game I am the doctor while the other game I am the nurse... Hey wait!! who is the patient? Presenting.... Aminda a.k.a ani :D Best part was this we used to play this only after closing the curtains fearing one of the gorillas of our family...
*************************************************************************************#4 Doctors are boring... So myself and punch decide that we play "sister-sister". We design our house, arrange all those little little vessels ( in tamil it is widely known as choppu saaman) in proper order and start playing... Suddenly we see two pairs of eyes peeping in thru the window. Guess who they were... My super hero bharath and villian of our life.. naren a.k.a nari... haiyyyyyyyoooooooo maanam pochu... I still don't know how come they managed to see our game for more than a minute without laughing.
*************************************************************************************#5 Now moving on to cricket. The three guys nari, aminda, bharath begin to play cricket. Bharath gets to bat first and aminda is bowling... nari is fielding (fact being he is hyper active.. so he can be a good fielder). After a long struggle aminda gets a wicket... Being the oldest and the most matured guy in the family he introduces a term called "gaaji" where the batsman gets to play one more time after he loses his wicket. And these dumb heads nod and continue to play the game till sunset... n finally they never get to bat... :P
Sometimes I still long for those days when we used to eat together and muyal used to uutify to us. Today we all are grown (are we?) We don't meet often and if at all we meet it is for some family function at some hotel. Those days will never return back...
the moon light dinner, stories from muyal, those little little fights, getting teased to the core, getting lost from home and receiving punishments... Tch.. I wanna live that life again.
Dedicated to all those loving souls at NV
